My name is Laura Sudweeks, but i go by “Suds”. I am 18, a senior and graduate in 2009. I’ve been playing soccer for 15 years now and love it! I’ve played every position (except goalie) but my favorites are striker and wing. I love crossing and shooting! What a rush!! I love soccer, music (writing, playing, listening), and photography. I am looking to go into photography in college and become a professional photographer. Hopefully I will be blessed with the opportunity to play at least one year of soccer in college but it just depends on where I end up going.

I am SO excited to visit Africa and be able to travel to Uganda and other amazing places. I honestly have no idea what to expect, other than what I’ve seen on video clips that my coach has shown the team. I am looking forward to an amazing, eye opening experience. I hope to learn a lot while I’m there and hope I can make a difference in someone’s life.

“Every girl should have a goal.” To me, that means that no matter who you are, no matter what the circumstances, you can do something, be someone, push yourself to your limits. Everyone has the ability to excel. It’s just a matter of setting goals to do it, and putting those goals into action, one at a time. Goals for girls is helping our team help others. It’s an amazing program and this experience will be something each one of us on the team will remember for the rest of our lives.

I LOVE my team! The girls are all so incredible, sweet, kind hearted and hard working. When we all put 100% into games and practices we do great things and I know that if we put our full hearts into this program, the rewards will be endless. The sacrifices of time and money that we’ve all made will come back to us through the feelings and happiness we will receive from doing this service to girls in Africa. I am SO excited and cannot WAIT to go!!
