Kathy Cannon
Hey everyone my name is Kathy Cannon but I usually go by “Cannon”. I am 18 years old and will graduate in May 2009. I have been playing soccer for around 15 years and have enjoyed every minute of it. I have played a variety of different positions from defense to attack but my favorite out of all of them is in the midfield. I love creating the perfect pass for my teammates and allowing them to score amazing goals. That is the best feeling in the world!!
Jackie Skinner has coached me in soccer ever since I was around 12 years old and has really helped me to become the best player and person that I could be. I have really connected with her on and off the field and I consider her my big sister because she is always there for me. I’m so amazed when I see all the time and effort she has put into supporting the people in Uganda! It will be amazing to share this experience with her and really impact the girls in Uganda.
I am really excited for this trip to Uganda because I know that I will really be making a difference in peoples lives. It is somewhat scary though because I have never really left the country so I think that the cultural difference will come as a bit of a shock to me.
Every girl should have a goal is a saying that I have taken into my own life and I hope to help girls in Uganda to have hope and courage to set their own goals. I am also excited to travel with my team that I have played with for 4 years and have grown really close to. I am so grateful for the opportunity to travel to Uganda and share the passion that I have for soccer to girls there. I know that what we are going to do will not only affect my life personally but the lives of girls in Uganda.
