My name is Kelsey Badger and I am currently a sophomore at Timpview High School. I enjoy running, reading, hanging out with my friends, watching movies, and just having a good time! I love summer because I can’t stand the cold, I get to play soccer more often, I love to swim and get tan and it’s the time of year for going on vacations, which is fun for me because I love traveling and experiencing new things. Hence why I am so excited to go to Africa with my high school soccer team. It’s all the things I love in one!

I have been playing soccer ever since 1st grade and have loved it ever since. Really, soccer is what keeps me going in life. I always look forward to practice, and especially games. I love having a team, and I love being apart of that team. I believe soccer is really the best sport in the world. This year I tried out for Timpview’s basketball team to help me keep in shape for my spring soccer season. Playing basketball is fun… but there is such a difference between basketball and soccer that it really showed me how much and why I love soccer! It’s because soccer is a team sport, it’s my sport. Basketball is sometimes frustrating for me because it’s more of the coach’s sport. I love being on the soccer field and creating my own runs and doing what I can do with the ball with no time outs!

I am so excited to go to Africa! I have been given so much that I believe I need to give back just as much. This is an amazing opportunity that my team and I have been given. I believe everyone can make a difference in the world, and this is my chance to make a statement to the world. “Goals4Girls” is an amazing and strong statement; I can’t wait to make a difference in the girls’ lives in Africa, especially through the sport that has made such a difference to me in my own life.

Every girl deserves to have a goal. I don’t think I could do much with my life if I didn’t have any goals. Goals are what push me to do my best. I have goals for everything! Some of the goals I have in my life are to try my hardest, always have a smile, to get married and to raise a family, play college soccer, travel the world, get straight A’s so I can go to a university, and to basically just live life with no regrets. One of the greatest feelings in the world is to go through all the hard work, all the failures, and finally reaching your goal for whatever it was. Anything in this life is possible if you work hard enough for it.

I can’t wait to go to Uganda. It has always been my dream to go to Africa to do service. One of my goals is finally coming true at last.
