2014 India

“She flies with her own wings”

December 2013-January 2014: Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi

Goals for Girls teamed up with Rising Star Outreach for the first half of the trip where we joined their fight in combating the stigma associated with leprosy. We worked with 17 Indian girls from leprosy affected families, and together carried out service projects, life skills and cultural exchange activities, ran soccer sessions, and traveled to leprosy colonies to assist in mobile medical clinics.

In Bangalore, we held a soccer tournament with Dream a Dream for 300 school girls, ran a coaches clinic, and visited the homes of micro-loan recipients with an organization called Janalakshmi.

While in Delhi, we held a soccer tournament and clinic with 150 female athletes, and participated in an information panel with ICRW regarding the status of India’s girls.
